The Pathways to Possibilities program at Calvin College will bring the to Grand Rapids on July 7, 2001 for a rousing concert in the Fine Arts Center.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are available at the Calvin Box Office or by calling 957-6282.

The concert will be part of the at Calvin College, a conference that brings some 150 young people between grades 8 and 11 to campus for a weekend of college immersion, workshops, college prep advice, a keynote speaker (top-ranked U.S. heptathlete Dee Dee Nathan) and more!

Those young people, and the rest of the audience, will see in The Toronto Mass Choir a group that was formed 13 years ago and has been a hit ever since. TMC has recorded several albums and was nominated for a Canadian Juno Award (the equivalent of the American Grammys).

Now 30 members strong, including a five-piece band, the choir consists of people from various local church denominations including Baptist, Church of God, Wesleyan, Missionary, and Pentecostal, with an average age range of 25-30 years.

The choir's songs contain a lyrical theme of praise, hope and encouragement . . . simple yet profound. The vocal delivery is dynamic. The message is clear. The music is compelling. The influences of Jazz, gospel, reggae and Caribbean folk genres are evident.
