Calvin responds to COVID-19

On March 16, all on-campus classes at »Æ´óÏɸßÊÖÂÛ̳ moved online for the remainder of the spring semester. The move along with the closing of residential halls one week later were two of the most significant changes made as a result of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

Since January, university leaders had been working closely with public health authorities in planning for the potential impact the virus could have on the Calvin community. A number of preventative measures and social distancing practices were encouraged early on to limit any potential spread of the virus. The operational changes were made when it became clear— based on developments in early March, and the advice of government, public health officials, and Calvin leaders— that a quick end to the COVID-19 pandemic was unlikely.

Leadership also knew that taking these actions when they did would enable students to return to their home cities, states, and countries before stricter travel regulations were put in place.
