Calvin College is holding a toy and clothing drive this week and next for children in Guatelmala.

The drive is being organized by Calvin students, including Dan DeVries-Ortega (left), a Miami native whose mother is a native of Guatemala.

Dan is hoping to collect toys, clothing and more for the children of Guatemala. It's an effort he has organized before from his home in Miami. He also is raising funds to buy a TV/VCR and Spanish versions of the Veggie Tales videos for a Vacation Bible School in Guatemala.

Collection boxes are situated across the campus, including in the dorms, the apartments, the on-campus coffee shop and main administration buildings.

Dan is a fifth-year senior who completed a major at Calvin in bio-chemistry and now is working on a computer science major. The Miami native attends Kendall Community Church, a Christian Reformed Church in the Miami area.

Contact Dan DeVries-Ortega at ddevri62@calvin.edu or 616-954-4105.
