Biography

Elizabeth Wooster Colpean joined the Grand Rapids Symphony in 2000 as principal harpist and has appeared with the orchestra as soloist on several occasions. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Colpean held the same position with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Colpean has participated in a number of international music festival including the Pacific Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Seventh World Harp Congress in Prague, Czech Republic. In August 2000, she performed at the Tanglewood Music Festival in a distinguished alumni concert during their acclaimed Festival of Contemporary Music and in 2002 performed at the American Harp Society Conference in a two-harp recital with her mother. She holds degrees from Southern Methodist University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Elizabeth Colpean lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and when not teaching or performing enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children.
