Finishings

  • Cutting: any size other than the sizes of our paper stocks will need cutting.
    • Additionally, our printers cannot print to the edge, which forces a white border on prints that are the exact size of one of our paper stocks. This means that if you want prints with content all the way to the edge, they will require cutting. Please see "to-the-edge printing" under the "General" section of our "Best Practices" page for more information.
    • If you only want one copy or so, it is probably more cost-effective for you to cut it yourself - please let us know if you want to cut it yourself. Our sliding cutter in the front of our office is available for customer use.
  • Padding: that rubbery edge that holds a notepad together, comes with a chipboard bottom.
  • 3-hole Punching
  • Envelope Stuffing: we can stuff #10 envelopes and envelopes that meet the specifications outlined in the diagram below (A through D).
  • Creasing: this creates a clean fold, great for things like table cards, notecards or cardstock brochures.
  • Stapling
    • Corner Staple
    • 2 staples on the left
    • Booklet Stapling: see binding section
  • Folding
    • Half-fold
    • Tri-fold
    • Z-fold

Binding/booklets

We mix color printed pages in with black, so you only pay for the colored pages you need (though for stapled booklets, this is based on how the spread comes out).听
We can cut the book down to your preferred size (minimum height for a stapled booklet is 5.5").

  • Comb Binding
  • Coil Binding
  • Steel spine attached to transparent covers
  • Stapled booklet: multiple pages are printed on larger sheets which are folded in half and stapled
  • Perfect Binding: glued spine
  • *Comb or coil binding can be paired with cardstock covers or a transparent front and black back for a nice, professional look. Stapled booklets also have the option of a cardstock cover. Perfect binding automatically comes with a cardstock cover.

Posters

Students can print color mini-posters (11" x 17") for no extra cost.

Student printing on MFD's and laser printers through PaperCut is paid out of your Print Budget allocation, so you aren't charged extra for it. However, you DO pay directly for items printed at Printing Services. See our Services and Submit an Order pages if you would like to order posters through Printing Services.

Brief instructions for printing a mini-poster:

  1. Use any software to design it, but set page size to 11" x 17".
  2. After it is designed, Save As a .pdf file.
  3. Using a lab computer:
    1. open your file
    2. select File/Print
    3. select "PaperCut-MFD" for the printer
  4. Release it to print at an MFD which has 11x17 paper (a color MFD if you want a color poster). Here is a list of publicly available MFDs and printers: Printer Locations.
